'A game of the year contender.'

FPSRUSSIA11d ago

I have this Preordered and ready to go September Sony has a hit on there hands Game of the year contender for sure.

darthv7211d ago

Did you get any pre-order bonus with yours? I ordered through VGP up in Canada and it comes with an Astro plushy

VenomUK11d ago

I hope Sony doesn’t do a Hellblade II and reveal almost the entire game through its previews. I want to watch but also I want to wait and discover things in the game myself.

Cacabunga11d ago

Very pleased to see single player offline games getting so much love and attention.. goes against all odds and media manipulation..

Profchaos11d ago

@venom pretty hard to spoil this one it'd be like trying to spoil doom you could have the full story laid out but it's all about the gameplay

VenomUK11d ago

@Profchaos You make a great point about Doom and gameplay. All I mean is in the trailer there is at least one big boss shown and it would be nice to be surprised by each one and each level as you play it. Ultimately that is in my hands to abstain from preview content!

Storm2311d ago

Probably my most looked forward to game. Gonna just be fun. Excited for an experience like this that is so rare these days. Day 1.

RaidenBlack11d ago

A really really welcome break from the usual AAA grandeur-chasing efforts ... just gotta cherish the fun side of gaming as well, you know

Petebloodyonion11d ago

Na! the game of the year winner as we are entering the special era of fun!

darthv7211d ago

Just watching John's facial reactions, and the tone in his voice... you can tell it's genuine. This game is gonna be the biggest hit of the year. Can't wait.

RaidenBlack11d ago

I like the DF folks ... yes they might have some minor flaws but overall they cherish gaming and each of the crew member's taste's diverse as well
Richard loves super hero games, John likes retro and platformers, Alex likes PC RTS and FPS, Tom likes Fighting games and Oliver likes Persona style games
Will primarily prefers PC stuffs
and we know very little of newcomer Don's interest but his Diablo IV PC coverage was really good.

solideagle11d ago

hey darth you mentioned you got a plushy, you reckon they would be doing similar in UK? I am not good finding things in internet lol

Profchaos11d ago (Edited 11d ago )

Yeah John is a huge fan of the platformer genre he covers pretty much anything related to the genre like he calls dibs on them in advance.
But I like his take on these style of games can often see his excitement revisiting them in df retro.
I don't agree with their take on everything but John and platform games is consistent

dveio11d ago

I really wanna click and watch. But damn, I don't wanna see anything more.

Already pre-ordered.

Whoever was the initiator of conceptualizing Astro Bot and the game design of paying tribute to all the Playstation memories, I hope this person received a nice check.

Playstation really has never been able to create a mascot likeable as Zelda, Mario, Luigi or Kirby.

But with Astro Bot I gotta say they've finally gotten closer. Not on the same level yet, no doubt about it, but very, very likeable as well.

LiViNgLeGaCY11d ago

Yeah, this looks like it's going to be something truly special. And I definitely think you should watch. From what I saw, every gameplay clip they showed, we've seen from that last direct. I'm PRETTY sure, at least.

Grilla11d ago (Edited 11d ago )

Nothing new really, same video clips from state of play.

OlderGamer1711d ago

Yeah brcause he only played the first level not to much spoilers...

purple10111d ago

Tell me it looks like Mario but better without telling me it looks like Mario but better

darthv7211d ago

John did reference that he could see the Mario Sunshine inspiration... and that's it. The rest was all praise to how well the game reflects the world and it's little nuances through the controller.

No need to be a negative Nancy

purple10111d ago

I was trying to be somewhat neutral/positive, I love it anyway, looks good to me

repsahj11d ago

I love SMS on GameCube so this is a plus for me.

My most wanted game, it looks phenomenal and takes me back to the good years of gaming.

Getting this day one. It looks amazing, just like Astro's Playroom but this time longer and better

A mighty chunk. Hope this game's a good 12 - 14 hours at least. Might be one of the funnest platinums to get in a while. Day 1 for me and millions of others I bet as well.

Cacabunga10d ago (Edited 10d ago )

As platinum of astro bot is so easy and not fun for a confirmed player.. i went for it because i was missing like 2-3 artifacts and a weird trophy with a rabbit after i finished the game.
I hope the game will be a little more challenging.

Day one nonetheless

Number1TailzFan10d ago

Ya, should start off easy/medium difficulty and slowly ramp up from there to fairly challenging, ideally.

MASTER_RAIDEN10d ago

I couldn’t agree more. I honestly don’t get why everyone is excited for this game. The first one was extremely basic and way too easy. As a glorified presentation of jthw dual sense controller, it was fine I guess. But as a full blown game? It was so forgettable.

DarXyde10d ago

I think the Mario formula is the way to go:

The main game can be pretty chill with some exceptional challenges for those who want to engage with it and go for the platinum.

It's such a great approach.

NotoriousWhiz10d ago

Millions...... and millions.....

just_looken10d ago

" Astro Bot will require approximately 66 GB"

By helicoptergirl logic modern warfare 3 had a 20hr campaign then

This is not on 7th gen consoles file size means nothing this gen

Hypertension14010d ago

Japanese games like resident evil, all soulsborne games, and the evil within, and many others seem to fix large scale games into less than 50gb.

Stanlittle10d ago (Edited 10d ago )

I'm kind of sad this is the ONLY major exclusive coming out this holiday season for PlayStation. So I hope it's S-tier.

Psychonaut8510d ago

Curious to see what that interprets to in terms of length. Cuz there’s a lot of really cool physics simulations in the game, not sure if those are something that would take up much space or not. Either way I’m stoked. They’re going to release free challenge levels after launch as well.

1nsomniac10d ago (Edited 10d ago )

Physics simulations aren’t assets they’re calculations and algorithms therefore they take practically no space whatsoever.

The size content will be the same as any other game mostly raw sound files. The rest, mainly hi res textures.

Psychonaut859d ago

Ok cool. I genuinely wasn’t sure, makes sense though. Thanks. So seems to imply it will be sizable then, that’s good.

rlow110d ago

This game not only looks fantastic but will play fantastic. Worth every gig!

Gaming4Life198110d ago

Looks like good fun, definitely picking this up day one.
