The recent update introduced a lot of new features, some of which are there to allow better customization of Pals and don’t have a deeper impact on other aspects of the game. Other features, like Dog Coins and Crude Oil, potentially left a bigger mark on the in-game economy. Now, some Palworld players are examining how these changes affected the value of Gold.
What Can You Use Up Your Gold On?
One player, redial2, wondered: “Does anyone else think that the real value of Gold in the game has vastly decreased? I am still crafting Legendary Spheres for Gold, but I don’t really need to buy much anymore now that I can farm sufficient Sulfur right in my base”.
CleodKicker shared their approach. They said: “I buy medicine with it on servers because of how often my Pals get depressed. But, yeah, otherwise especially for single players there needs to be a sink”. Artemus_Hackwell added: “The ammo. I go through a lot of it. Especially Shotgun shells and AR ammo. All of my gunpowder goes into making Rockets and other ammo like that. The ones that the traders don’t sell”.
Several players pointed out that Gold can be used for buying Electric Organs. One Redditor, greenhawk00, explained: “Atm it’s pretty important to buy Electric Organs, but besides that, I never need any Gold. Many people buy ammo but imho it’s easy to craft even a large amount by myself. I hope they introduce some cool items we can buy with Gold in the future”.
Palworld Players Debate Whether the Gold Needs More Applications
A lot of Palworld players agreed that it would be great for the devs to add new items that would bring back the value of Gold. CanConfirmAmHitler offered an idea: “Imagine how nice it would be if we could purchase consumable items that would apply a certain passive to a Pal of our choice, or remove a random passive from a Pal of our choice”.
This player added: “Obviously these consumables would be extremely beneficial to min-maxing your Pals come the end game. As such, these items would be justifiably expensive and would need to be bought repeatedly depending on your breeding needs, making it an effective gold sink”.
As it always happens, a part of the community didn’t mind Gold losing its value. One player, dpldogs, explained: “It’s fine for resources to phase out of usefulness, once you build all your beds you don’t really need Cloth/Wool anymore, but that’s okay. Also, yes, if you more than double the number of bases from the default you will not need as many things”.
As a resource, it’s fine for Gold to use its value. There might be something from the real world that we are applying to the game that prevents us from accepting that. And, that’s completely fine, especially since Gold does have some purpose. We’d always advise you to try out the new features, the devs added them for a reason, probably to make up for some of the shortages of the old ones. Try to enjoy experimenting and the game will become less stressful and more fun.
