A Twist in the Major Order Enrages the Helldivers 2 Community

The current Major Order has completely exhausted the players since the moment they started liberating the designated five planets. Some players even took a break and fought the bots, while most of the community valiantly faced the Terminids. Just as the players thought the bugs had been suppressed, Helldivers 2 devs put in a twist in the Major Order.

Players Lose Their Minds Over the Major Order Twist

A Strategic Development was announced. Due to abnormally large spore dispersals, additional Terminid outbreaks have occurred. As you might expect, the players weren’t too happy about this update. Many felt this was just a lazy way to give them something to do in a nearly finished Major Order so that the outcome would be uncertain. A lot of players blamed Joel.

One player, xnrnx, noted: The “Joel” and his Terminid friends hacked a planet with no Supply Routes. They took it over for the bugs and instantly attacked cleared planets. This makes me wonder what’s the point of clearing a sector when all of a sudden a planet magically converts just to make the MO have more time”.

They added: “I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m tired of fighting on the same planets over and over again because they switch MOs, and the planets we just took are taken back a day later. With them taking such drastic steps as they did, there is no longer and feeling of progress. They will do what they want, even if it shouldn’t be possible”.

iFenrisVI agreed: “Yep and just taking Gatria without letting us defend it, despite it not having any bug Supply Lines connected to it then immediately having it attack Phact Bay and setting Gatria decay to 3% was absolute bulls**t. No matter the reasoning from dispatches”.

Rumpullpus reported: “Hard for me to take any of the MOs seriously when they’re perfectly willing to just flip the board when the players start getting an upper hand”. Another player, defietser, explained: “The whole Major Order system is mostly just fluff to give us reasons for a change in scenery, occasional propaganda moments, and infrequent new gun/Stratagem unlocks”.

What Could be Improved in the Devs Approach to Helldivers 2?

Some dedicated players pointed out that the way the spores are spread is unknown. Most would guess that they go through the Supply Lines, but no one understands the exact mechanics. A Redditor, sherlock1672, declared: “Game mechanics should always be explained in the game or a guide bundled with the game. There’s no excuse for scattering information to the four winds”.

Recently, the community has talked about burnout a lot. More and more players report they are tired of the repetitive nature of the game. Another player, russ_nas-t, explained how AH could improve things. They said: “This game should be a case study on how to burn out your fan base. Constantly doing the same thing over and over in a live service game is so lazy. Add a new faction, Stratagem, literally anything but another cra**y Warbond like the last one”.

Now, we understand that the most probable cause of this entire conundrum is quite simple. It’s the season of summer vacations. The developers work year-round to deliver some quality content to their player base. Maybe we can forgive them this one time for choosing the lazy route? Surely the Helldivers 2 devs thought that a little twist to the Major Order would spice it up, rather than initiate a rebellion against them. They’ve done a lot of good work recently, we’d say they deserve a vacation.
