The current Major Order seemed quite straightforward, with players liberating the designated planet, X-45, within the first day. With days left until the end of the MO, rather than just defending the planet from new waves of Automatons, the players took it upon themselves to cut the Supply Lines by attacking Meissa. It seems that the Helldivers 2 devs loved the initiative because they issued a Strategic Update that could possibly lead to a new weapon.
The Recent Strategic Update Tickles the Helldivers 2 Players’ Imagination
On July 4, the players received a Strategic Update. It reads: “The first layer of rubble covering the Advanced Weapons Lab on X-45 has been cleared. Initial reports show the facility remains largely intact. It is possible there is even a cache of still-functioning weaponry from the First Galactic War contained in the lab. Further excavation efforts are ongoing”.
Dedicated Helldivers 2 players immediately started theorizing which new weapon might be behind this Strategic Update. We are sure this crossed your mind as well, the new weapon might be the one that the devs have been trying to “give” us for a while. Yup, that’s right, everyone thinks the MD-17 Anti-Tank Mines will finally drop in Helldivers 2.
If that proves to be true, this would be the fourth time that the devs have tried to bring in the AT Mines. The last time they gave the players a choice, the player base decided to make a meme out of refusing the AT Mines for the third time. Now, with X-45 already liberated and Meissa well on its way, it would take a miracle to tank the current MO.
Schpam noted: “Don’t get your hopes up. It’s the “long lost Anti-Tank Mines we didn’t know we already had” cache”. Another player, Eliixiin, added: “AT Mines should stay a meme. It should always just be a MO with AT mines or something else”.
Helldivers Express Wishes For Another New Weapon
Some players still hope that a different weapon will be added. Various-Pen-7709 said: “I hope it’s a cache of M16s with the Heat Shield and Underbarrel Grenade Launcher”. Another player, minerlj, added: “Push forward! It could be the Halo Warthog”.
Hengilore mused: “Just saying, but there’s plenty of old Stratagems from Helldivers 1 that aren’t in the game but a lot of them could make the experience better. Like the AT-47 Anti-Tank Emplacement, Anti-Personnel Barrier, or the Distractor Beacon”. TovarishchRed joked: “They clear the rubble and its just a f**king AK-47 that the Super Earth scientists were trying to reverse engineer lmao”.
While we are quite certain the AT Mines will finally be added, we’d love to be wrong. There were some amazing weapons in the first installment. We’ll find out soon enough what Joel prepared. Unless the players unite and somehow sink the Major Order, which would admittedly be hilarious. Whatever happens, this is a win-win situation, so just relax and enjoy as it folds out.
