We’ve all been there, after a long day, you come home in need of some high-quality relaxation. You start up your favorite game, ready to spread some Democracy, but, something is off. Every little glitch in the game irritates you, your teammates are incompetent, the bugs and the bots are overwhelming, and not to mention the MO.

After finishing a mission, you find yourself feeling worse than before. Either you continue playing mindlessly, or you turn it off, disappointed. You don’t experience the joy you used to. Unfortunately, this happens when we care a lot about something. Thankfully, you can count on the Helldivers 2 community to help you deal with burnout.

Even Helldivers Can Experience Burnout

It’s often hard to admit that your feelings toward something have changed. One player, Topsidebean, bravely shared their issues. This player said: “I really love this game and it’s the first game I’ve felt like in a while that hasn’t had microtransactions forced down your throat, good lore, a good community, and what used to be amazing gameplay”.

They continued: “All of my issues started about a month ago when I got out of school to play the game more. Honestly, they really started when they first nerfed the railgun. I’m so fed up with the way this game plays now. I get it, that the bats**t insanity is supposed to be part of it and that it’s supposed to be challenging on 9, but my god I’m not having fun anymore. I want to put down the game now, and I want a reason to stay, but dear god, something’s gotta give”.

To any player that feels unsatisfied and tired, we’d suggest taking a break. It doesn’t have to be long, depending on how you are feeling, it could be a couple of days, a week, a month, or until the next patch. In the meantime, you can try some other games, chat with your community, or try out a new hobby. The game will be there when you decide to come back, and we promise you’ll enjoy it more.

Abject-Egg-5100 suggested: “Take a break. I played since launch then took about a month break in the spring and have just recently picked it up again, and I am enjoying it much more”. SummerCrown added: “It’s fine to get burnt out. Play something else. Helldivers 2 is meant for the long haul so treat it as a forever game and come back now and then”.

Helldivers 2 Community Will Be by Your Side Through Hardships

Obviously, a big aspect is, and should be, feeling secure and welcome in your community. With the number of people that play Helldivers 2 daily, you are bound to stumble upon problematic players. One player, laborfriendly, shared their unfortunate experience.

They said: “Just joined a mission and landed on the extraction pad. I was instantly gunned down by the host as I exited my pod”. This player added: “Don’t give grief to the late-joiners or be upset with them. They hit quickplay just to get a mission or operation done and were wanting to help out”.

Once again, the community jumped in and supported the player. Hangulman noted: “Some people get stupidly salty about late-game joiners. I always feel like every mission that ends without a full squad is a wasted opportunity, because the XP, Req, and Samples could have gone to another person”. Another player, teniaava, offered support: “A Helldiver is never late. Nor is he early; he arrives precisely when he means to”.

We’re no psychologists, so take this with a grain of salt. In our experience, being continually dissatisfied with unchanging conditions will lead a person to feel worse and worse. Helldivers 2 is still a relatively new game, a game that is still evolving. If you follow the developers on any social media, you can tell that this is a passion project that is still in the works. So, when you are feeling down or the burnout is overwhelming you should reach out to your Helldivers 2 community. They’ll certainly step up and offer you some advice, or at the very least some comforting words of support.
